Frequently Asked Questions

No. US citizens do not need a visa to visit Kazakhstan for stays of up to 30 days under Kazakhstan’s visa-free policy for US passport holders. No advance application is required — simply arrive at Almaty International Airport or Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana with your valid US passport. For stays longer than 30 days a visa must be obtained in advance. AA Passport & Visa helps with passport renewal and longer-stay Kazakhstan visa applications. Call 972-231-1600.

Astana was built largely from scratch in the late 1990s as Kazakhstan’s new capital replacing Almaty. The city features some of the world’s most unusual and ambitious architecture including the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center the world’s largest tent structure, the Bayterek Tower a futuristic monument with an observation deck at 97 meters, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation a glass pyramid designed by Norman Foster, and the EXPO 2017 exhibition buildings. The contrast between this ultramodern planned capital and the vast surrounding steppe is one of the most jarring and memorable travel experiences available to DFW adventurers.

You need a valid US passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your entry date and a return or onward flight ticket. No visa or advance authorization is required for stays under 30 days. Kazakhstan immigration may ask for proof of accommodation especially in Astana or Almaty. AA Passport & Visa helps ensure your passport is current before your Kazakhstan departure from Dallas. Call 972-231-1600 if your passport needs renewal before your Central Asia trip.
