A valid passport and visa is required to visit Vietnam.

Requirements for visa to be stamped in the actual passport (Valid for 1 month only, NO pre-approval needed):

  • Valid and signed U. S. Passport (valid at least 6 months beyond the date of entry; with at least one blank visa page) – photocopy is not acceptable
  • One Visa Application Form – Complete, Print, and Sign a Vietnam Visa Application. This application must be completed online.  Please Note: The Vietnamese Governments visa application operates best using Google Chrome, and may not open or operate properly in other browsers such as Firefox, IE, Safaris, Edge
    Choose ENGLISH language (top right corner) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam web site.Click on “fill form”
    Place of visa submission and collection should be VIETNAM EMBASSY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, toward the bottom off the drop down menu
    Do not worry about uploading a photo it’s optional.
    Click on “next” and proceed to answer all of the questions about your trip
    For U.S. passport type select “ordinary.”
    Enter the sponsor information (tourists can use the hotel information)
    On the final page of the online application, select VIETNAM EMBASSY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and submit the form.
    A PDF will open. Print and sign the PDF send it to Travel the World Visas along with your supporting documents.

Vietnam Tourist Visa (longer stay and/or multiple entries)
  • Signed U. S. Passport valid at least six months beyond the date of entry with at least one blank visa page.  Photocopy is not acceptable.

Other Type of visa is the Evisa:

For tourist, business, conference attendance, journalism or press, investment, market research purposes, Travel the World Visas will be able to assist you with the EVISA application, the EVISA is valid for single entry for 30 days only, the traveler MUST exit Vietnam on or before the visa expiration date.  For longer stay and/or multiple entries, visa MUST be applied through the Embassy of Vietnam and a Visa Approval Letter issued by the Vietnamese Immigration Department is required, the requirements are listed below.

2) Clear Copy of the passport data page (Full page including photo, personal information and and ICAO lines)
3) Service Order Form

For a Vietnam e-Visa you need a valid US passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your entry date, a recent passport photo meeting Vietnamese government specifications, a scan of your passport bio page, your intended entry and exit dates, entry and exit point information, and payment for the e-Visa fee which is currently $25.
