Guyana is South America’s only English-speaking country and one of the continent’s most exciting emerging tourism destinations – a vast wilderness of rainforest covering 80% of the country, the spectacular Kaieteur Falls one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls, pristine savannas, exceptional wildlife including jaguars, giant river otters, harpy eagles, and tapirs, and a unique multicultural society shaped by African, Indian, Amerindian, Chinese, and European heritage. For US citizens in Dallas and DFW, Guyana does not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days. AA Passport & Visa in Richardson TX ensures your passport is ready. Open 7 days a week. Walk-ins welcome. Register your trip on-line with the U.S. Embassy in this country. Millions of Americans travel abroad every year and encounter no difficulties. However, U.S. embassies and consulates assist nearly 200,000 Americans each year who are victims of crime, accident, or illness, or whose family and friends need to contact them in an emergency. When an emergency happens, or if natural disaster, terrorism, or civil unrest strikes during your foreign travel, the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate can be your source of assistance and information. By registering your trip, you help the embassy or consulate locate you when you might need them the most. Registration is voluntary and costs nothing, but it should be a big part of your travel planning and security.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. US citizens do not need a visa to visit Guyana for stays of up to 90 days. American passport holders can enter Guyana visa-free at Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Georgetown. Simply bring your valid US passport with at least 6 months validity and a return or onward flight ticket. Guyana is one of the few South American countries that uses English as its official language making it particularly accessible for DFW travelers. AA Passport & Visa helps with passport renewal before your Guyana trip. Call 972-231-1600.

Kaieteur Falls on the Potaro River in central Guyana is one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls measured by water volume relative to height. It drops 741 feet in a single unbroken plunge which is about four times the height of Niagara Falls and roughly twice the height of Victoria Falls. What makes Kaieteur extraordinary is its setting — surrounded by pristine Amazonian rainforest with no roads, no towns, and no tourist infrastructure nearby. Access is typically by small plane from Georgetown. It is one of the world’s great natural wonders and remarkably uncrowded compared to more famous waterfalls.

You need a valid US passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your entry date, a return or onward flight ticket, and proof of accommodation such as a hotel booking in Georgetown or a confirmed ecotourism lodge reservation if visiting the interior. Guyana immigration may ask for proof of sufficient funds. No visa stamp or advance authorization is needed for US citizens. AA Passport & Visa helps ensure your passport is current before your Guyana departure from Dallas. Call 972-231-1600.

The US State Department has a Level 2 Exercise Increased Caution advisory for Guyana due to crime particularly in Georgetown. Petty crime, robbery, and occasional violent crime affect both locals and tourists in the capital. However eco-tourism lodges in the interior are generally safe and well-managed. Georgetown itself requires standard urban precautions. The interior rainforest regions are remote but most visitors travel with licensed guides through established ecotourism operators. AA Passport & Visa recommends registering your trip at step.state.gov before departing Dallas.

Guyana has 80% forest cover with minimal deforestation compared to its neighbors. The government has committed to conservation and sustainable tourism as central economic strategies. As a result Guyana has some of the most pristine and biodiverse wilderness in the Western Hemisphere. The Rupununi Savanna in southern Guyana is famous for giant river otters, black caiman, capybara, and exceptional birdwatching. The Iwokrama Forest and Kanuku Mountains are world-class wildlife destinations. For DFW travelers seeking genuine wilderness adventure Guyana is one of South America’s best-kept secrets. Make sure your passport is valid before booking. Call 972-231-1600.
