Iran Visa

Iran Visa Services in Dallas, TX

Iran holds one of the world’s great ancient civilizations – Persepolis, Isfahan’s Imam Square, Shiraz and the poetry of Hafez, the desert cities of Yazd and Kashan, and a culture of extraordinary hospitality that surprises most Western visitors. However for US citizens travel to Iran is highly restricted and carries significant risks. The US State Department has a Do Not Travel advisory for Iran and the US and Iran have no diplomatic relations – there is no US Embassy in Iran to assist Americans in distress. AA Passport & Visa in Richardson TX can advise on the documentation situation. Open 7 days a week. Walk-ins welcome. Call 972-231-1600.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is extremely difficult and effectively prohibited in practice. Iran does not grant tourist visas to US citizens who hold only a US passport. The US and Iran have no diplomatic relations and there is no Iranian Embassy in the United States — visa applications must go through a third-country intermediary. The US State Department has a Level 4 Do Not Travel advisory for Iran citing the risk of wrongful detention of US citizens, terrorism, civil unrest, and the complete absence of US consular protection. AA Passport & Visa strongly advises reviewing travel.state.gov before considering any Iran travel.

The US State Department warns that US citizens including Iranian Americans with dual citizenship are at serious risk of arbitrary arrest and detention in Iran. Several US citizens have been detained in Iran in recent years and held for extended periods as bargaining tools in diplomatic disputes. The Iranian government does not recognize dual nationality for Iranian Americans and treats them as solely Iranian citizens. There is no US Embassy or consulate in Iran to provide assistance. AA Passport & Visa strongly discourages travel to Iran by US citizens under any circumstances and recommends reviewing the full advisory at travel.state.gov.

Legally speaking US citizens are not prohibited by US law from visiting Iran though it is extremely difficult to obtain entry. Iran restricts visas for US passport holders. Journalists, academics, and some business people have occasionally obtained Iranian visas through third-country channels but the process is unpredictable and the risks remain high regardless of visa status. AA Passport & Visa strongly advises against attempting travel to Iran as a US citizen and recommends consulting the State Department and legal counsel before making any decisions.

Iranian Americans holding dual US-Iranian citizenship are particularly at risk when traveling to Iran. The Iranian government does not recognize dual nationality and treats Iranian Americans as Iranian citizens subject to Iranian law including mandatory military service for men of eligible age. Dual citizens have been detained, had their passports confiscated, and been prevented from leaving Iran. AA Passport & Visa advises Iranian American members of the Dallas and DFW community to review the full State Department advisory and consult legal counsel before considering any travel to Iran.

Citizens of most countries other than the US, UK, and Canada can apply for Iran tourist visas through the Iranian Interest Section in Washington DC or through online visa portals. Requirements typically include a completed visa application, passport photos, a letter of invitation from an Iranian tour operator or host, and payment of visa fees. AA Passport & Visa can advise non-US citizens in the DFW area on the Iran visa application process. Call 972-231-1600 with your passport nationality for guidance.
