The Ghana Immigration Service issues the approved eVisa electronically, so applicants can complete the process online without relying on the older paper-only application procedure.

GHANA TOURIST VISA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid and signed U. S. Passport (valid at least 6 months beyond the date of entry; with at least one blank visa page)  – photocopy is not acceptable
  • One (1) Visa Application Form completed and signed
  • Two (2) Passport Type Photographs
  • International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever
  • Computer generated flight itinerary from the travel agent or copy of round trip airline ticket
  • AA Passport Service order form
  • If visiting religious organization, submit Letter of Invitation from the inviting party in Ghana
  • For Minor Applicants (under 18 years old), a copy of the applicant’s Birth Certificate with the names of both parents is required, as well as a NOTARIZED “parental consent” signed by both parents/legal guardians (this applies regardless of whether parents/legal guardians are traveling with applicant) and copy of the parents identification (like passport data page or driver’s license).

GHANA BUSINESS VISA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid and signed U. S. Passport (valid at least 6 months beyond the date of entry; with at least one blank visa page)  – photocopy is not acceptable
  • One (1) Visa Application Form completed and signed
  • Two (2) Passport Type Photographs
  • International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever

  • Letter of Invitation from Sponsor in Ghana (fax or scanned copy)
  • Business Letter from U.S. company
  • AA Passport Service order form
  • For Minor Applicants (age 21 or younger), a copy of the applicant’s Birth Certificate with the names of both parents is required, as well as a “parental consent” signed by both parents/legal guardians (this applies regardless of whether parents/legal guardians are travelling with applicant)

Yes. U.S. ordinary passport holders are not listed among Ghana’s visa-exempt nationalities and generally need a valid Ghana visa before travel. The current Ghana eVisa system accepts applications from U.S. citizens for eligible tourist and business travel. Visa approval does not itself guarantee entry, because the final admission decision is made by Ghana Immigration officers at the port of entry.

Current B2 Tourist eVisa requirements include a passport bio page, passport photograph, travel itinerary or flight booking, proof of accommodation, bank statement or proof of funds, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. If staying with a host, invitation and host identification or residence documentation may also apply.

A Ghana B1 Business eVisa generally requires the standard passport, photo, accommodation, itinerary, and yellow fever documents, plus a business invitation or host letter, company registration certificate, company tax clearance certificate, and other host or signatory identification when applicable. The official Ghana eVisa portal currently charges $260 for Standard processing within 96 hours, $338 for Priority processing within 48 hours, and $442 for Express processing within 5 hours.
