Honduras Visa

Honduras Visa Information for Dallas TX Travelers

Honduras is Central America’s most underrated destination for adventurous DFW travelers – home to the ancient Maya city of Copan Ruinas one of the most elaborately carved sites in the entire Maya world, the Bay Islands including Roatan with world-class diving on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef the second largest coral reef on earth, vast cloud forests, and the biologically rich Mosquito Coast. US citizens do not need a visa for Honduras under the CA-4 agreement but the 90-day allowance is shared with Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua combined. AA Passport & Visa in Richardson TX ensures your passport is ready. Open 7 days a week. Walk-ins welcome. Call 972-231-1600.

Honduras

There is no visa required for U.S. citizens traveling for business (maximum stay for 1 month) or tourist or official or diplomatic travel (maximum stay of 3 months).  A valid US Passport (must be valid for 6 months beyond the date of entry) is required.

Register your trip on-line with the U.S. Embassy in this country. Millions of Americans travel abroad every year and encounter no difficulties. However, U.S. embassies and consulates assist nearly 200,000 Americans each year who are victims of crime, accident, or illness, or whose family and friends need to contact them in an emergency. When an emergency happens, or if natural disaster, terrorism, or civil unrest strikes during your foreign travel, the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate can be your source of assistance and information. By registering your trip, you help the embassy or consulate locate you when you might need them the most. Registration is voluntary and costs nothing, but it should be a big part of your travel planning and security.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. US citizens do not need a visa to visit Honduras for stays of up to 90 days under the CA-4 Border Control Agreement shared with Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. This means the 90-day allowance covers all four CA-4 countries combined on one trip not separately. Simply bring your valid US passport with at least 6 months validity and a return flight ticket. AA Passport & Visa helps with passport renewal before your Honduras trip. Call 972-231-1600.

Roatan is the largest of Honduras’s Bay Islands and one of the Caribbean’s top scuba diving and snorkeling destinations. It sits directly on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef the second longest barrier reef in the world after Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The reef runs directly along Roatan’s south shore meaning world-class diving is accessible from shore or by short boat ride. Visibility regularly exceeds 100 feet. Wall dives, coral gardens, whale shark encounters, and wreck dives are all possible from Roatan. American Airlines operates direct and connecting flights from DFW to Juan Manuel Galvez International Airport in Roatan.

You need a valid US passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your entry date, a return or onward flight ticket out of Honduras or the CA-4 region, and proof of accommodation. Honduras may charge a small tourism fee at the airport. Under the CA-4 agreement your 90-day allowance covers Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua combined so days spent in any of these countries count toward your total. AA Passport & Visa helps ensure your passport is current. Call 972-231-1600

The US State Department has a Level 3 Reconsider Travel advisory for Honduras due to crime. Honduras has had high crime rates historically though tourist areas including Roatan, Copan Ruinas, and the colonial city of Gracias are generally considered safer with appropriate precautions. San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa have higher crime levels. Most DFW tourists visit Honduras specifically for Roatan diving or Copan archaeology and find the experience positive when staying in tourist areas. Register your trip at step.state.gov and review the full advisory before departure.
