Important:
All the tourist passport holders who are going to work or meet, permanently or temporary at the diplomatic missions in Iraq (including US Embassy, US Army Mission or bases) should apply for the visa approval first through the Iraqi Ministry of foreign affairs/Protocol Department.  The applicant’s diplomatic mission or sponsor in Iraq has to apply for the applicant’s visa approval through the Iraqi Ministry of foreign affairs/Protocol Department and then the diplomatic mission/sponsor will be informed about the approval and the Consulate/embassy will get a copy of that approval to issue the visa.  Once the embassy/consulate receives the visa approval, the consular department at the Embassy of Iraq in Washington DC will be able to issue the visa in the passport.
