Effective December 24, 2015, personal appearance by the application is now required.  The applicant has to appear in person at the nearest embassy or consulate, third party submission is no longer an option.

 

Visa Requirements for U.S. Citizens

TOURIST VISA

There is no visa required for U.S. citizens traveling for tourist purposes for a maximum stay of 90 days. A valid U.S. Passport (must be valid for 6 months beyond the date of entry) is required.

BUSINESS VISA

  • Valid passport with at least two (2) unused (blank) pages labeled “Visa” when presented at the Embassy or Consulate; one page for affixing the visa or permit by the embassy/consulate and the other page for endorsement of entry/departure stamp by the South African Immigration Services. Passport must be valid for 30 more days after the intended return date from South Africa
  • Prescribed form DHA-84 Note: Under Permanent Residential Address, please state the address in the United States where you reside
  • Two (2) passport photos with white or light background
  • Round trip flight itinerary
  • Proof of sufficient means in the form of bank statement / letter of undertaking from the Company
  • Proof of accommodation (confirmed hotel reservation)
  • Letter from the U.S.A.employer/ organization stating purpose, duration of stay in South Africa
  • Yellow fever certificate is required if applicant is passing through yellow fever belt area before entering South Africa
  • Travel the World Visas Service Order Form
  • Letter of invitation from the South African Company/ Organization confirming purpose and duration of visit.

    • proof of remuneration or stipend that the foreigner will receive from the employer, and
    • identity and contact details of the prospective employer or relevant contact person from the host institution

MISSIONARY/VOLUNTEER VISA

  • Valid passport with at least two (2) unused (blank) pages labeled “Visa” when presented at the Embassy or Consulate; one page for affixing the visa or permit by the embassy/consulate and the other page for endorsement of entry/departure stamp by the South African Immigration Services. Passport must be valid for 30 more days after the intended return date from South Africa
  • Two (2) passport type photographs with clear or white background
  • Prescribed form DHA 1738 Form 8 (completed and sign) – Note: In the permanent residential address, please state the address in the United States where you reside.
  • Medical Report BI-811 (must be taken within the last 6 months) – Medical
  • Radiological Report BI-806 (must be taken within the last 6 months) – Chest X-Ray
  • Proof of Health Coverage while in South Africa
  • FBI Background Check (Criminal Record Check) issued in the past 6 months
  • A vaccination certificate, if required;
  • $1,500.00 money order for the repatriation deposit lodged in a case an applicants travels on one way ticket
  • Undertaking (commitment) by the South African host;
    • A letter from the organization where the services will be rendered, confirming the nature and period of the services;
    • A letter of confirmation that it is not a paid post.
    • Statement confirming that the host will be responsible for the applicant’s repatriation
  • Bursaries (grant awarded as part of a financial assistance package);·
  • Medical coverage;
  • A letter from the U.S. company or organization taking financial responsibility, and undertaking to return applicant upon completion of assignment if applicant is sent by Church organization/ Mission. This letter should also specify purpose and duration of stay in South Africa.
  • Marriage and birth certificate
  • Roundtrip Flight Itinerary
  • Proof of Sufficient means in the form of Bank Statement for own maintenance

    Fee Information

    None US Citizen: must provide proof of your current U.S. Immigration status.  You must include a copy of your U.S. Immigration paperwork or a copy of your Green Card, and employment letter. You must provide proof that you possess sufficient funds.  Your financial details must: Include a copy of your most recent bank statement.
